“The ‘Anti-Negotiator’ featured in this blog post is a fictional character created by Reveel’s Original Series The Negotiators. The Anti-Negotiator embodies the exact opposite behavior and thinking of an actual Negotiator. Avoid working with any real estate agent who behaves in this manner.”

There are many real estate professionals in the United States. Finding any real estate agent to help you with buying or selling property is easy but finding a good real estate agent to help you is a whole nother story. That’s where Negotiators come in.

Negotiators are an elite group of real estate professionals that work relentlessly to get their clients the best deal possible. They are known for their outstanding professionalism and incredible devotion to making sure their clients’ dreams come true. While Negotiators embody the best qualities of real estate professionals, Anti-Negotiators embody the exact opposite.

What is an Anti-Negotiator?

I’m glad you asked. Anti-Negotiators are everything that a Negotiator is not (as evident by the name). They are real estate professionals that rarely put their clients first and often get their clients the worst deal possible. In this blog post, we go through what an Anti-Negotiator is and the many reasons (we are limiting them to five) you should never do business with them.

The Negotiators TV series will be releasing a special episode on April Fool’s Day that follows Anti-Negotiator Quentin Vane as he demonstrates why you should never do business with someone like… well, him. Watch the hilarious episode for free on Reveel starting on April 1st.

5 Reasons You Should Avoid Anti-Negotiators At All Costs

1. They Aren’t Available When You Need Them

One of the most frustrating things about working with Anti-Negotiators is that they don’t put their clients’ needs first which leads to one thing: unavailability. Anti-Negotiators are rarely there when you need them, which is a huge problem in the real estate world where time is of the essence. They would much rather spend time sleeping in or playing golf, leaving their clients high and dry when they need them the most.

2. They Ignore Your Requests

It’s an agent’s job to listen to their client’s needs and act as a representative for the buyer or seller while negotiating the real estate deal. This is something Anti-Negotiators are terrible at. For one, they are terrible listeners and ignore a lot of what their clients tell them. While negotiating they will often push their own agenda despite what the buyer or seller they are representing thinks.

3. They Barely Know Your Name

If you’re looking for a real estate agent that will give you their undivided attention, then you should avoid Anti-Negotiators at all costs. They tend to believe they have better things to do than work for their client and will barely give an effort to remember your name. Not only will this make it difficult to have a positive relationship with them, but it’s also just an awkward experience in general.

4. They Do The Bare Minimum, If That

Expecting your agent to fight relentlessly on your behalf in negotiations? Think again. Anti-Negotiators often do the bare minimum when it comes to working for their clients. They might send a simple email to the other agent and call that negotiating on your behalf. This can lead to missing out on a lot of opportunities and receiving less or having to pay more than you deserve in a real estate transaction.

5. They Are Unprofessional

Anti-Negotiators tend to be unreliable, unprofessional, and overall just terrible at their job. Between missing deadlines, unavailability, and a strange commitment to always be late, working with them seems to do more harm than good. Not to mention, they often dress and act unprofessionally which just makes the whole experience that much worse.
